Davao Del Sur | A Diverted Trip To Davao City

This trip is unplanned! I am supposed to go to Zamboanga City but due to unexpected incident happening in Zamboanga airport my flight with Cebu Pacific was diverted to Davao! My original itinerary was Manila-Zamboanga-Bohol. I arrived safe in Davao at 9 am! It took me 2 hours in the airport negotiating with the airline personnel to rebook my plane ticket going to Cebu the next day! A bit excited with my trip and the same time feeling uncomfortable because I don’t know where to go! What I prepared is for my Zamboanga trip.

I checked in at the Sampaguita Tourist Inn!  The place is recommended by the taxi driver that took me to the city from the airport! According to him most of his passenger chooses that inn. It is spacious and the price is affordable but the ambiance and mattress were not good! I have my lunch at Gaisano food court. I bought a map and spend an hour surfing the net for me to have idea where and what to do! My time where limited so I decided to have it within the city, knowing that it is the biggest city in the country. I took courage to take a jeepney ride to familiarize the metropolis! I went to SM City where I bought my souvenir t-shirt. After that I headed to Bangkerohan Market where I got malong for my mother and I saw the famous durian fruit! It was a tiring day for me yet a memorable one because somehow I survived it even though that is not the trip that I originally plan.

On my second day I have my breakfast at Country Fried Chicken. Their chicken was crunchier and affordable located across the Apo View Hotel.  After that I headed to Peoples Park! It is packed with locals doing aerobics, jogging and some fitness exercises. I keep myself busy with taking pictures of the attractions in the area. There so many display of sculptured artwork of their local artist. Lunch at Hapag’s Best with two pieces of pork barbeque, soft drink and unlimited rice for only forty-nine pesos! Not bad for a budget conscious like me! After that I visited the Matina Town Square and NCCC Mall!

The Davao Crocodile Park is the best part of my adventure! It is educational to see endangered species on that zoo. It’s my first time to enter a zoo. The place is well maintained and it has so many attractions like the cultural village that houses different kinds of model houses of the tribes.

I got stocked at Davao International Airport for almost five hours because my flight for Cebu City is moved from 4.00pm to 7.30pm. While waiting for my flight I spend my last day in Davao City reading in-flight magazine, checking my facebook account, texting my friend Jim and eating durian hopia. The only consolation for the delayed flight is a free meal. My college classmate Jimmelyn and her best friend Jenel were waiting for me at Sugbutel in Cebu City. =)
